I'm very happy with my purchase. It seems well-built, very sturdy, and the operation is quite smooth. I like that they included a way to snug the plate perfectly in place. Also, the lock/unlock feature is quite nice. This was my first ever router plate install and it went smoothly. While I waited for it to arrive, I watched various YouTube videos on how to install a router plate, not only this plate, but others. There was some useful information. JessEm's instructions say very little about …custom-made tables and how to install, which is understandable as most everyone's situation will probably be slightly different. The videos helped immensely! I've used the table several times. I really that each full rotation of the crank raises the the bit about 1/16". I can get very close and then dial it in with little effort. And changing bits from the top of the table ... big win! That saves lots of time an aggravation! I use this with my Dewalt DW618, and the installation of the router was quite easy. Certainly a huge thumbs-up from me! Lastly, there is no need to purchase their template! NONE! You can make your own template quite easily from scraps. YouTube is your friend! Watch it!
My ONLY negative comment is that so those of us who aren’t installing this into a premade table, there are really only two options, buy an ≈$85 template for the cutout, or turn to user submitted videos (find them on your own).If you are doing it on your own, I HIGHLY recommend making a template and finessing it until a test cut fits.It took me a couple of hours to make a template, cut the opening, and install and level the lift.A good value for the average router table user.
So I decided to make a work bench/router table but didn’t want to have to mess around under the work bench whenever I needed to adjust the router. Well I selected this one due to all the reviews. And sofar I’m thrilled with this. It works smoothly. It lifts my Dewalt 618 high enough that I can change the bits from the top of the table. The lock works well and hasn’t slipped sofar. All I can say is that this is a great setup. Would buy again
Getting prepared to learn how to build cabinets, doors, and drawers. Building them for the garage first just in case.I'm familiar with framing and finish work, but never ventured into fine woodworking.I do have the best portable contractors saw on the market, so I went to UTU and watched a few videos on cabinetry and also building saunas.I will be building both a sauna radius T&G (convex and concave) and will need the 2 1/4HP router to make these cuts. The shower will then be stood on end. As… shown in the picture. As for the saw, it's a Dewalt 7491. The router is a Dewalt 618. I have provided pictures of the entire setup for information if you need it. This is the best way I've found to still allow the guards to be stored.Use a 24 x 24 piece of plywood and then cut it down to fit the radius in the deck. Run the aluminum supports out as far as possible. mount them to the saw with #408 ubolts and 1" angles on top in the the deck edge.As for the Jessum lift, It was the best, yet at an affordable price. I have operated the lift and it works excellent. Smooth, accurate, and flat. I mounted it in such a way that I can utilize my existing fence or adding a sacrificial fence by using clamps.Just a note, the Dewalt 7491 is the most accurate jobsite table saw available. The rack and pinion fence works excellent. Just like the Jessum router lift. Two things. After going to school at UTU and watching videos, I notice many of the people made the same mistake by not leaving enough surface area in the recess. After tracing your line around the lift onto your deck, measure in 7/8" and make that line your cutout. That way your slack adjusters (2) will perfectly contact the recessed border underneath. Also, if your a yank, you will need four 1/4 x 20 thread inserts for wood for the corners. Also, I wouldn't use anything less then 3/4" for your deck.Jessum did a great jobOne thing I would have preferred would have been a blank red cap to place over and protect the router when not in use.All in all, this was a great purchase. If you're just starting out, don't let it scare you. Just take your time and avoid mistakes.
This is very well made. BUT... NO template and a detailed description of all routers it works with not just the best ones would be great for ppl like me who will very rarely use this.... I am otherwise VERY happy!
Everything it claims. Super smooth operation. Love the locking mechanism and ease of changing bits above table. Definitely don't need anything bigger/more expensive unless you want to install a 3 hp router.
I had some issues with this lift. Nothing that could not be resolved. However, in emails to/from Jessem Customer Support they made it clear that they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for Jessem products purchased from Amazon because they only sell to distributors. If the distributors decide to sell on Amazon, you are on your own. Jessem does not back their products sold on Amazon by their distributors. Really? Here is an excerpt of an eMail from Jessem Customer Support on 3-3-2023:"As I have said, Jess…Em Tool does not ship our products to Amazon to sell. We cannot guarantee quality as we don’t know the history of the products purchased from that online company. "
I have been wanting to upgrade to a router lift over my home made unit that used a scissor jack. The lift was a pretty easy install and works exactly as I had hoped. Full disclosure when looking at it on the Amazon page they had a promotion for the Prime Card with quite a large incentive so it was foolish to not apply and then use the discount. Immediately after ordering I paid the balance on the card so in the end I only paid $86.00.
I'm giving this a 1 star because the package was thrown at the bottom of my driveway in the mud with a hole in the box and parts sticking out. I would have never ordered this product had I known it would be shipped with FedEx. As far as I'm concerned if JessEm cared about their product, quality, and customer satisfaction then FedEx would not be in the picture.
